                                                           Saving Money on Car Gas

With the cost of gas today, we are all looking for ways to save money.  Below are several tips that will help you save on car gas.  Every little bit adds up.

*Get A Gas Card

Almost all major gas stations offer their own brand of gas credit card that will allow you to save 3-5 percent on all your gas purchases at their stations. Saving 5 percent off every gallon of gas means a savings of around $3.75 per tank.

 *Avoid Aggressive Driving

Hitting the gas pedal hard when the light turns green and braking hard when you stop will increase the rate at which your car using its gas.

*Use Your Cruise Control

Cruise control not only helps you drive at a steady speed but also saves you gas. On average, you'll save about seven percent more gas than if you don't use cruise control.

*Slow Down

Sure, going fast can be fun. It can also get you a nice collection of speeding tickets, but more importantly, the faster you drive the more gas you use.

*Stop Idling

If you going to be sitting and waiting some place without moving for more than about a minute, turn off the engine. It probably goes without saying that if you can avoid rush hour traffic, you should.

*Plan Ahead

Map out the places you will need to stop at and figure the shortest route.  This not only saves gas, it save time..

*You have legs - use them

Really want to save money on gas? Then use your legs. A lot of trips aren't really that far, and while it takes a little longer to walk somewhere than to drive, it's a good chance to get outside for some fresh air and get some exercise in the process.  If you don't want to walk, think about getting a bicycle.

Supermarket Smarts

                                                                Supermarket Smarts

We all have to eat, regardless of what the financial situation happens to be.  When trying to reduce the amount of money you spend, you don't have to sacrifice a lot in order to save money.  Below are a few ways you can save at the grocery store.

Before you leave the house check your pantry and do a swift inventory so that you can see precisely what you need. Also, if you have some odd ingredient hanging out in the cupboard, you can purchase something to go with it while you are out.

Check weekly supermarket ads to see exactly what's on sale. Combine that information with what is already in your cupboard, and you should be able to come up with some recipes for the week that integrate both.

When you see something on sale that you often buy, buy it. When you buy things that you would buy anyway on sale, you're saving yourself plenty of cash in the future.

Do your best to avoid making small purchases at places such as convenience stores. These smaller stores usually charge more when it comes to their grocery goods.

When you make a grocery list, stick to it. Do your best to avoid impulse buys.

Red meat can be very pricey. If you're looking for ways to get your protein without spending a whole lot, your best bet is to go for poultry, tuna, peanut butter, and eggs as an alternative.

When buying poultry, go for the whole chicken instead of breast meat. They are a much cheaper way of getting chicken.

When you see something advertised as a sale, be sure that it is in fact a deal. Compare the product to comparable products in the area to decide whether or not you'll be saving money by buying the sale item.

Frugally Safe

                                                                        Frugally Safe

You don't have to spend a fortune to insure the safety of your family and home.  I have listed several things you can do for little money to help make your home a safer place without having to install a complete home security system, which is definitely not frugal.  In fact, few have the money to install such a system.

*Install alarms
First things first. You might want to buy one of those small door-installed alarms that cost about $20 or less. Powered by cell batteries, once it's turned on and the door is opened, the alarm emits a sharp warning to alert you. It's cheap, unobtrusive and it works.

*Bolts and locks
For doors and windows, you can install bolts and locks to reinforce an existing lock. As long as the bolt is solid and the hinges are properly screwed in place, you will have little worry. If you have sliding doors that don't have an anti-lift device, it would be a good idea to install one. Or, you could install two door locks - one on top and another at the bottom - to reinforce the hook lock.

*Keep the light on
Illuminate your porch, back door and garage. If you're willing to spend a little, invest in dusk-to-dawn lighting powered by photoelectric cells. These save a lot of energy and will be cheaper to use than electric-powered lights.  Even less expensive is a solar-powered spotlight that collects the sun during the day and lights the yard at night.

*Keep things thorny
If you don't have a fence or wall, keep thorny plants and shrubs around. Plants like roses, holly and hawthorn have spiny leaves and thorny stems are great deterrents because they can produce punctures and tear at the skin. They not only provide you with security, they are also great ornamentals.

Knitting as a Home-Based Business

                                                          Knitting as a Home-Based Business

The word “knitting” used to conger up thoughts of grannies sitting in their rockers and making baby blankets to pass the time, but thankfully it has now taken on an entirely different connotation.  Knitting has seen a major resurgence in interest in the past ten years or so.  People young and old, from all walks of life, are discovering knitting in an entirely new way.  And, the best part is that now some stay-at-home parents are using their love of knitting to create income for their families.  As owners of a home-based knitting business, many are finding they can earn some extra money to support their family, while enjoying their craft as well.

There are many aspects to knitting which can be made into a home-based business venture.  The most obvious one is selling the items which you knit.  However, even more in demand is teaching knitting to others, and selling knitting items to others who knit for their hobby.  With the proliferation of the Internet, you can now set up shop and be in business in just a couple days’ time.

Whether you choose to sell your items online, teach or sell retail, there are a few basic business guidelines that you will need to follow to be successful.  Some of them are:

The Business Plan

No matter what business you decide to start, you 100% have to have a solid business plan.  There is no way possible to have a successful business venture without one.  The best way to develop your business plan is to think about all of the variables which go into your unique business, and what your ultimate short-term and long-term goals are for the business.  With all of this information, you can sit down and formulate a business plan without it taking you a lot of valuable time.  You can easily make a business plan with a pencil and a piece of paper.

Financial Records

The best thing you can do for yourself is to keep good business records from day one of your business.  Start with the fees to get a business license, and start recording every single business expense that you have.  By doing this as you go you will save both yourself and your tax preparer a ton of headaches come tax time.

Setting Your Prices

The number one mistake many home-based knitting businesses make is to charge too little for their services.  You need to make a living, and you need to be pricing your items and services accordingly.  Whatever you do, do not sell yourself short!  Ask a going rate for your items and services and expect that people will pay you what your time and product is worth.  This allows you to work smarter and not harder!  And, it allows you to stay in business because you are seeing some profits from your time investment.

Marketing

Marketing is simply getting the word out and letting others know your business exists.  You can market online, through a press release sent to your local newspaper, flyers, brochures, craft fair booths, etc…  Anywhere you come into contact with potential customers you can market your items and services.  You can even do simple things like always carry business cards, available these days very inexpensively online, and hand them out to everyone you meet as you go through your days.

The absolute best way to market your business is through word-of-mouth.  Once your business gets going, if you treat your customers well, then they will tell their friends and family about you; this will bring you more customers without having to pay a dime to advertise.

As you can see there are a lot of things for you to consider when you are thinking about starting a home-based knitting business.  However, your business can be very successful and profitable if you take the time to make it so.

Adding Beads to Your Crochet Projects

Be rewarded the Web's Premiere Rewards Site
Adding Beads to Your Crochet Projects

With the popularity of beading and jewelry making today, there are literally millions of different beads which you can purchase and add on to your crochet projects.  Beads are very readily available and inexpensive to purchase.  They can be found made of many materials and of all shapes and sizes.  Whether you want to add a single focus bead to your crochet projects, or add many of them, it is simple to do and will produce great results every single time.

No instruction about beading crochet would be complete without a warning about babies.  If you are crocheting baby items, they are not appropriate for beading.  The baby’s hands can work beads loose and they are a possible choking hazard if swallowed.  The best way to deal with this is to avoid the issue all together by not adding beads to your baby crochet items.

No matter if your crochet project is simple or complex, adding beads is a simple process which you can learn very quickly.  However, one very important thing is to remember is that your bead holes need to fit over the yarn or fiber which you are crocheting with.  If the bead hole is hard to get on your yarn then you will find the entire process frustrating.  And, the bead, if hard to string, will rub your yarn and cause it to fray.  This fraying will cause your finished product to look less than professional.

The first step in adding beads to your crochet projects is deciding how many beads you need and where you will place them on your project.  Your options are limitless when you are adding beads to crochet.  You can add one bead, you can add just a few beads or you can add many beads.  You also have the option of forming patterns with your beads or making them appear more random.  Once you have decided some of these things then it is time to hit the craft store to purchase your beads.

While you are selecting beads, take care to decide on the quality of the beads and the wear they may receive.  If your item will be machine washed then it is a good idea to stick with sturdy beads.  If your item will be hand washed then you can use more delicate beads.  Whatever your choice in beads, make sure you use quality beads so they will last the lifetime of your finished crochet project.

You will be placing your beads on your project in the reverse, so you will want to line up your beads in reverse order, if they are not all the same.  When you are going to embellish your crochet with beads you have two choices of how to do it.  The first choice is to add your beads as you crochet.  To do this you will want to feed your beads onto your crochet hook when you are at the stitch where you want the bead to be.  Place the bead right where you want it to be, and then make your last yarn over.  This will secure down the bead into place.  If you are working on an open or lacy design, you will need to add your beads as you crochet.

The second choice you have is to sew on your beads after your fabric has been crocheted.  To do this, you will want to use the same crochet yarn or thread to sew on your beads that your fabric is made of.  This will allow the thread to blend in and not stand out on your finished design.  This is a good technique for tightly woven crochet fabrics.

Adding beads to your crochet projects gives you a way to make a simple item really have some sparkle and visual interest.  Whether you choose to add a single bead or thousands, the process is simple and you can do it well with very little practice.

Home Security for Peace of Mind

Be rewarded the Web's Premiere Rewards Site
Home Security for Peace of Mind

In today’s world home security is no longer about having gates locked or a dog prowling the yard. Today, home burglaries take place with alarming frequency. Federal statistics indicate that home burglaries are climbing toward ten percent from 2004. Why such a rise? The reason is that security in convenience stores, malls and gas stations are using monitoring cameras and security alarms to protect their employees and assets. This causes the thief to seek other means of revenue. Your home!

There are seven reasons to consider a security system for your peace of mind:

1) As stated earlier, home burglaries and invasion have risen from past statistics. The thieves or drug users of today have no problem entering your unguarded home and taking whatever money they need or items they are after. In addition, more families are two income families. This means there’s no one at home for large portions of time. If there are children, often they are left with a nanny or babysitter. In some instances these individuals need to monitor.

2) The installation of a security system will help the homeowner protect property and possessions against any intruder and, depending on the homeowners needs, can even give an “eye” into the activity of those looking after your children. It’s an effective way to protect your home and the loved ones.

3) The surveillance systems on the market today are relatively inexpensive, when compared to home protection. In addition, most surveillance cameras are easy to install when following mounting and networking instructions, if there are more than one camera involved in your home protection plan.

4) Most surveillance systems of today can be integrated and interfaced to alert security personnel or police. In an emergency situation, the appropriate home or business security system, can instantly transmit a call to 911 and simultaneously record the activity. This is very useful information for insurance companies and the courts.

5) Surveillance cameras are able to record any event that takes place on a property. In the event of vandalism or fire, the recorded event will definitely assist law enforcement in prosecution and insurance companies in processing a claim.

6) Home surveillance should not be considered as merely a present investment of protection for the property owner. Home security systems increase the marketable value of one’s property. Today’s property buyer wants the security of the investment.

7) The security system packages in today’s market are various and diverse. This variety gives the homeowner or renter a wide range of options in developing a quality security program. For apartment renters subscribing to a monthly security program could prove to be an economical way to protect possessions and loved ones. These subscriptions operate much like subscribing to the telephone or cable company.

In today’s world home security has become more than making sure the doors are locked and gates secured. The criminals of today have become adept to navigating simple security systems. But with a comprehensive security plan the homeowner can record these navigations, should a thief dare. With the appropriate surveillance system loved ones can be protected from unsuspected individuals. And lastly, surveillance systems are very useful to law enforcement and the courts. A dog’s testimony is nothing but a yelp, but the evidence captured by a surveillance camera is a bite in crime!

Home security for your Mailbox

Home security for your Mailbox

With the holiday season upon us many persons are receiving in the mail a lot of different offers for goods and services requiring that they to spend their money. For many persons that will be about all the mail they receive in their mailbox outside of their regular bills, until the season has passed.

In many cases when you receive mail in your mailbox your personal information is usually a part of what is sent. This is never a good situation as most mailboxes used by homeowners are easily broken into. This presents the ideal situation for identity thieves, as many of us do not even consider our mailboxes when we think about home and personal security. Every day we receive tons of mail and this is a haven for those identity thieves that will continue to be so until we address the problem.

There are plenty of mailbox designs around but many of them have been around for over fifty years and do not stop anyone from gaining access to our mail. In fact with some mailboxes all an identity thief has to do is just reach inside the mailbox with his hand and pull out the mail. All these boxes do is to receive our mail, but they do not protect it in any way.

As homeowners many of us do not even think about how we are providing the perfect Christmas gift for identity thieves. We take our mail out of the mail box and go back inside our homes, unaware that an identity thief only needs a couple of pieces of our mail to get our personal information. They will then use it to gain and charge up credit cards to amounts we cannot afford and then we may find ourselves responsible for wrecking our credit.

It is therefore very important that as part of your over security plan for your home you include your mail box. You should take out your mail from the mailbox as soon as it arrives. If no one is available to take the mail form the mailbox you get a mail box that uses a padlock on it. You can also rent a post office box from your local post office or you can use a private mailbox service. Both offer a very secure delivery system. It will cost you a few dollars per year for rental fees.

If you decide to replace your mailbox you should choose one that is made from solid steel. Make sure that the top part of the mailbox is easily accessible by the mailman so that he can place the mail inside the box without much trouble. The section of the mailbox that you will use to access the mail should be of such that a key is required to open it. This will protect you from having your mail stolen and by extension identity theft. Mailboxes made of steel are virtually impossible to get into and does open easily when you use your key for access. It is important that you install your mailbox properly and keep it in good working condition.

You can find steel mailboxes at any hardware store both on the Internet and in your neighborhood. Take time to compare prices and the quality of the features of the mailbox, before you decide on the one you will buy.

If there is any sign of tampering you should have it immediately repaired. Also if you should see someone tampering with your mail box, you should write down their description and report it to the police or your local postmaster. Do not accost these persons by yourself, if at all; let the police handle the matter.

You must pay careful attention to your mail and your mailbox, as the identity thieves will be doing just that so protect yourself from them.

Why Do You Need Emergency Exit Door Alarms

Why Do You Need Emergency Exit Door Alarms

Well, sometimes it may get really frustrating for you to see your friends go in and out of that door that you had specifically assigned to be your emergency exit, in case of fires of course. We’ve all been there in that situation, but now, there is something that you can do about it. And the best part of this solution is that it is really inexpensive, realistic and as the name suggests, safe. The solution that we’re talking about is the emergency exit door alarms. Now you may ask why exactly you would need an emergency exit door alarm. Well, it restricts strangers or even your friends from using those doors, which were originally meant for emergency purposes only.

The purpose of these emergency exit doors is pretty simple. All thanks to the alarms that these doors make use of, it becomes very difficult for the burglars to break in to your house through these doors. Owing to the benefits of the emergency exit door alarms, it really doesn’t make any difference whether you want to install these doors for your business or even for your home for that matter. One of the best things about these emergency exit door alarms is that you can turn any door located in your residence to an emergency exit door by installing this door alarm on them.

Whenever you install an emergency exit door alarm, you can simply keep that door unlocked and remain assured because even if anyone, i.e., a burglar, breaks into your house, the alarm will release a high pitched sound that could easily make you and even your neighbors for that matter about any break in to your house. The emergency exit door alarm may just as well be the security device that you were always looking for. Some of the alarms fitted in these devices are so sophisticated that even if the protected door is accidentally or even intentionally kept opened, the alarm sets off an extremely loud sound for a time of thirty seconds or the time which was defined by the user of the alarm, which in this case would be you. And only you can stop this alarm with the help of a special override key.

One of the best things about these emergency exit door alarms is that it also comes with a stop sign, which assures the fact that no one uses that particular door, accidentally. Another feature of these alarms is that they are protected with the strongest of material, i.e., a polycarbonate covering which cannot be destroyed so easily. Some of the emergency exit door alarms even offer the user the feature of either sounding an alarm or using an enunciator. One of the most important advantages of these alarm systems is that they are very easy to install since they come with proper installation instructions. The versatility of these emergency exit door alarms is truly admirable since they can easily be installed on steel as well as wooden doors which makes this security device all the more popular.

The working of the emergency door is pretty simple. As soon as an authorized person opens the emergency door, the alarm sets off immediately producing a loud noise and only after the door is closed does the alarm stops. The alarm system also offers easy to customize options to the user with respect to the alarm sounding time and the noise that it produces. Although many of these systems are operated by a key, there are other systems that work solely on the basis of entering uniquely assigned codes. The code system is so simple that even your children can operate them without breaking any sweat, provided they know the codes of course.

These alarm systems can really be very helpful especially during an emergency situation like fire or if someone’s breaking in to your house. During situations like these, technology sometimes really seems to be a boon for mankind.

Fifteen Ways to Discourage a Criminal

Fifteen Ways to Discourage a Criminal

Wonderful! You're going away on vacation. You've worked hard, and you deserve a break. Make sure you don't get a "Break and Enter, "as well.

Here are fifteen tips to help ensure that when you return from vacation, your home and possessions will be as you left them. If you follow some of these suggestions, you'll enjoy your holiday more, because you'll know you've taken ample precautions. The only thing that you'll worry about will be whether you left the iron or the stove on, by mistake. There is no cure for that worry!

1.  Put your mail on hold.  There's nothing that says "Nobody's home," like an overflowing mailbox or a pile of mail on the floor under your door's letterbox. Do this early enough to allow the post office to get the information to your letter carrier. Just to be sure, do it three or four days before you leave.

2. By the same token, put your newspaper delivery on hold. A pile of unread newspapers is as clear as a neon sign saying, "Vacant," to the thief.

3. Get a timer for your lights. They're not expensive, and they give the illusion that someone's at home.

4. Leave some music playing, or put the TV on a twenty four hour talk channel. Anyone approaching your premises will hear it and assume someone is there.

5. Never put a message on your answering machine which states, "We're not home right now…," because if an well organized thief is calling to see if anyone's home he'll know that the coast is clear. You might as well put on a message saying, "Come right in."

6. A debate about whether to leave your drapes open or closed when you're on vacation has raged on for years. You have to decide what's best for you, taking into account what's visible from outside your windows .Some fence-sitters in this debate leave some drapes closed and some open.

7. Another debate surrounds whether or not you should leave your car in the driveway. Many people feel that an observant thief will notice a car that never moves. Others think that a car on the property will convince a thief that there's someone home.

8. Padlock all gates which lead to your back yard. A thief won't relish the idea of trying to get back over the gate while carrying your video player and gun collection.

9. Get someone trustworthy to go to your home regularly to move the curtains, water your plants and do whatever yard work needs to be done. It's unlikely that your trustworthy friend will have a home-wrecking party as always happens in the movies.

10. Give a contact number to a neighbor or friend. This is for emergencies only.

11. It may seem obvious, but double check that all the doors and windows are locked.

12. If you have an alarm system, call the security company and let them know that you're leaving and if someone's taking care of your property, inform that too. Suggest that they send a representative to drive by your place every couple of days. (Not at a regular time, and not too slowly or obviously.)

13. Let the cops of the locality know your travel plans. As with the security company, they could drive by occasionally, as long as it's not too obvious.

14.  Get a floor safe and store your valuables there. If installed properly, it should be undetectable.

15.  Consider hiring a house-sitter. Having a dependable person living in your home may be your best insurance against being a robbery victim.

It may sound more complicated than a military exercise, but remember that you can start on your preparations well in advance of going away. Remember, it will all be worth it when you see your property retreat in your rear view mirror, secure in the knowledge that you've done everything in your power to protect your home and belongings from criminal attack.

A Resume Reference Guide

I signed up on Tuesday
                                                                       A Resume Reference Guide

Are you in the process of finding a new job or changing careers?  If you are, you may also be in the process of creating a resume for yourself.  Although resumes can be complicated and nerve-wracking to develop, they are usually a lot easier to write than originally thought.  With that in mind, there are still many problems or complications that arise. For many resume writers that problem has to do with references.

On your resume, there is a good chance that you will list references.  These references can typically come in two different formats. These formats are personal references and professional references. You will find that many employers actually like to see a combination of them both.  Also, on average, most hiring companies like to see at least three references on their job applications and resumes.

Now that you know what many companies look for, in terms of references on a resume, you may want to start listing your references right away. While this approach is one that you can take, you may want to proceed with caution. As previously stated, one of the many mistakes that resume writers make involves their references.  Some of the most common mistakes, as well as ways to prevent those mistakes from happening, are outlined below for your convenience.

I signed up on TuesdayOne of the biggest mistakes that a job seeker, possibly just like you, makes involves listing no references at all.  If you are simply submitting your resume, you may be able to get away without having any references listed, but you may not want to take any chances.  If you are currently still lining up your references, you may want to have the phrases “references available upon request,” under the heading of references on your resume.  Should you fill out a job application and are asked to provide references, you will want to do so.  Omitting information on a job application may cause your application to be overlooked

Another mistake that many job seekers make, in terms of their resume references, is not asking to use a reference in the first place.  In almost all cases, you will find that your references are checked.  That is why it is important that you ask each individual that you would like to have listed on a resume or a job application before officially listing them as a reference.  If you have already submitted your job application and resume, without asking first, you will want to let each individual know, as soon as possible, that you used them as a job reference and that they may be receiving a phone call.  This is important, as you do not want your references to be caught off guard, as it may impact their responses.

As previously stated, most companies like to see a combination of professional and personal references on their job applications and on all submitted resumes.  This is a mistake that many job seekers also make and one that you will want to not make.  For that reason, you may want to consider listing four references on your job applications or resumes.  This would allow you to have an even number of personal references and professional references.

The above mentioned mistakes are common mistakes that many job seekers make when writing a resume for themselves. By keeping these common mistakes in mind, you can ensure that you do not make similar ones.  This should automatically improve your chances of landing the job of your dreams or at least a job interview.

Interview Preparation Tips to Help You Make a Good Impression

Are you currently on the hunt for a new job?  If you are, you will likely find yourself with a number of job interviews scheduled.  If you have been out of work for sometime now or if your last employment was long-term, you may be a little bit nervous about soon-to-be upcoming job interviews.  If you are, you are definitely not alone. The good news, however, is that there are a number of steps that you can take to prepare yourself for success.

If you have the financial means needed to do so, you may want to consider buying yourself a new job interview outfit or getting your hair done, even with just a simple trim. Many have claimed that a quick hair style or a new outfit has increased their confidence. This increased confidence may be just what you need to breeze through your upcoming job interviews with success.  Even if you do not have the financial means needed to purchase a new outfit or have your hair styled, you may want to turn to a close friend or family member for assistance, possibly for the borrowing of professional attire.

Openings at $75K to $500K+

Another one of the many steps that you can take to make a good impression at your next interview involves researching common job interview questions. There are a number of books on the market that are designed to assist those with finding new jobs.  Many of these books include job interview tips, including questions that may be asked.  Familiarizing yourself with questions that you may be asked, such as questions surrounding your strengths, weaknesses, goals, and so forth, can help to improve your response time, as well as ease any nervousness that you may have.

In addition to researching or familiarizing yourself with questions that you may be asked during a job interview, you may want to hold a few practice or mock interviews. These practice sessions can be done in front of a mirror or they can be done with the assistance of a close friend or family member.  You will want to treat all job interview practice sessions like they are the real thing.  Be sure to answer all questions in a professional matter, as if you were in a real job interview.

Another steps that you can take, when looking to prepare for an upcoming interview that you may have scheduled, involves printing off an extra copy of your resume.  This makes you look prepared, in more ways than one. Although the interviewer should already have a copy of your resume on hand, it wouldn’t hurt to ask them if they would like to see a new copy.  You may also want to bring along a pen and a notebook. These items can be used to write down information about the employer or job position in question. Once again, this proves that you are serious about finding a secure job and it should show that you will go through great lengths to find that job.

You will also want to take the time to research the company in question. This is ideal if they have an online website. You can impress your interviewer if you know about the company, even just a little bit.  Researching each company that you have an interview with should only take a few minutes of your time, a few hours at the most. The basic information, such as the goals of the company and where their main headquarters are located is often enough to grab the attention of your interviewer.

The above mentioned steps are just a few of the many steps that you can take to prepare for an upcoming interview or a job interview that you will likely have scheduled soon.  Preparation can do you no harm, only good.  Additional preparation steps that you may want to take include arriving early for your job interview, properly thanking everyone for your time and so forth.

Interviews:  How Should You Dress for Them?

Are you in the process of changing careers or even just jobs?  If you are, you may be in the process of scheduling job interviews.  In fact, you may even have a number of job interviews already lined up.  If that is the case, have you started preparing for your job interviews?  Job interviews can be tricky and extremely important at the same time. That is why you are advised to proceed with caution and refrain from walking into a job interview without having done even the simplest amount of preparation.

When it comes to job interviews, one of the biggest mistakes that a job seeker, possibly just like you, makes involves their appearance, namely the clothing that they choose to wear.  When it comes to a job interview, it is important to remember professionalism, professionalism, and professionalism again. In fact, professionalism cannot be said enough when it comes to job interviews.  Your appearance, namely the clothes that you choose to wear, says a lot about you, your seriousness, and your professionalism. Job Interviews:  What You Shouldn’t Discuss

Are you in the process of finding a new job?  If you are, you will likely have a number of job interviews coming up in the next few weeks or months.  Job interviews, although nerve-wracking, are often a lot easier than originally thought.  With that in mind, there are preparation steps that you can and should take to ensure that your next job interview is a successful one.

One of the most important tips that you can remember, when looking to prepare for an upcoming job interview, is what not to say.  There are some topics that need to be discussed during a job interview, but there are others that should be left out of the conversation. For more information on what you should or shouldn’t discuss at one of your upcoming job interviews, you will want to continue reading on.

One of the many topics that you should refrain from discussing at one of your upcoming job interviews involves your personal life.  For instance, you may not want to talk about your family or any friends that you may have.  If you are asked if you are a parent, you will want to respond, as well as answer any other questions, but you will want to try and refrain from brining up the topic yourself.  You will want to try to keep your personal and professional lives separate.

Bad experiences at past jobs are another one of the many topics that you may want to refrain from discussing at job interviews.  For starters, your information may be deemed as gossip. You will also want to refrain from divulging important information about your past employer, especially if they can be considered competitors.  Simply taking the high road and avoiding any topics that have to deal with poor experiences at your previous places of employment should help your public perception.

In addition to bad experiences at one of your previous jobs, it is also advised that you refrain from speaking poorly about any of your former supervisors.  No matter if your boss was in the wrong, you will want avoid speaking about the conflict. That doesn’t mean that you should lie if asked, but it does mean that you should at least use your best judgment.  You will want to show all prospective employers that you have respect for management, even if you don’t like the management members.

If you were ever terminated from a job, you will want to proceed with caution during your job interviews. Discussing a job in which you were terminated from may not work in your best interest. With that in mind, it is important to examine the reason for your termination.  Anything serious such as sexual harassment or theft may want to be avoided during a job interview.  However, if you will receive a background check, this information may come into light anyways.  Once again, you will want to use your best judgment.

Bad pay is another topic that you may want to refrain from discussing in upcoming job interviews.  It is not uncommon for pay to be discussed during a job interview. With that in mind, should you find the starting salary to be lower than you may have thought, you will want to keep your composure.  It would be impolite for you to leave in the middle of your interview or complain about the pay.  What you may want to do, instead, is spin it in a somewhat positive matter that can still display your disapproval.  You may want to consider asking about the other benefits, like sick days or vacation days, which can be used as other forms of compensation.

I signed up on Tuesday The above mentioned topics are just a few of the many topics that you may want to leave out at your next job interview.  Of course, during a job interview it is important to answer all questions asked, but just be cautious with your answers and do not divulge more information than needed.

Spontaneous Job Interviews: What You Should Do

Spontaneous Job Interviews:  What You Should Do

Are you in search of a job?  If you are, there is a good chance that you will enter a number of local establishments, retail or not, to submit a job application or your resume.  Many professionals recommend submitting job applications and resumes in person whenever possible.  In most instances, you will have your resume accepted and you will be told that you will be contacted for a job interview in the future. However, you may receive a spontaneous job interview in some instances.  If and when that time comes, do you know what you should do?

Before focusing on what you should do or how you should handle spontaneous job interviews, it is first important that you familiarize yourself with them.  Spontaneous job interviews come in a number of different formats.  For instance, a manager may ask you to come in for a job interview that that day or the following day. Although you are given some notice, many are unable to prepare as much as they would have liked to for an interview that is scheduled right away. Speaking of right away, you may also find yourself having a job interview right on the spot.  This is not uncommon, especially in retail.  Essentially, a spontaneous job interview is one that is schedule at the last minute or without a large notice.

As nice as last minute or spontaneous job interviews are, they can be scary and overwhelming for many. With that mind, you should know that there are both a number of advantages and disadvantages to spontaneous or last minute job interviews. One of those benefits is the need.  If an employer is looking to interview you right on the spot or if they are looking to set up a job interview as soon as possible, there is a good chance that they need to hire an employee right away.  This vital need can significantly increase your chances of getting a job.  With that in mind, the biggest con or downside to spontaneous interviews or last minute job interviews is the lack of preparation.

Although spontaneous or last minute job interviews do make preparation difficult, there are a number of steps that you can take to prepare for them, just in case. For starters, you may want to ensure that you are properly dressed.  Even if you are just submitting your job application or your resume, you will want to make sure that your appearance is professional in nature, especially if you are submitting your resume or job application in person.  A manager who decided to offer you a job interview right away should expect you to be a little bit unprepared, but why not take a few extra steps, like putting on a nice outfit, to show them that you can be prepared for just about anything.

As previously stated, many job seekers prefer spontaneous or last minute job interviews, while others tend to fear them.  To prepare for the possibility of a spontaneous or a last minute job interview, you will want to take the time to do a little bit of preparation.  This preparation may involve having a mock interview with your friends or family members, using the internet to research common job interview questions and so forth.  Taking a few minutes or a few hours, at the most, to prepare for a job interview, even if one has yet to be scheduled, will do no harm.  In fact, it is likely that you would take these approaches later on, so why not get a little bit of a head start with doing so?

The above mentioned points are all points that you will want to take into consideration, when you decide to submit your resume or your job application in person.  As nerve-wracking as last minute or spontaneous job interviews can be, you will want to refrain from turning any down, as they can, literally, be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Ways to Impress Hiring Employers After the Interview

Ways to Impress Hiring Employers After the Interview

Are you currently on a search to find a new job?  If you are, you may be preparing yourself for upcoming job interviews.  Although a good percentage of your time should be focused on mastering the interviews at hand, you may also want to examine your actions and what they should be after an interview has ended.

As previously stated, it is advised that you spend a good percentage of your time focusing on mastering the interviews which you should have scheduled soon. These preparation tips may include familiarizing yourself with common interview questions, creating a list of questions that you should ask interviewers, as well as choosing a professional outfit for you to wear. As soon as you have each of these preparation steps out of the way, you may want to take the time to focus on after the interview.

After the interview?  If you are wondering what you should after a job interview, you are definitely not alone.  Unfortunately, this is where many job seekers make mistakes, possibly costly mistakes.  Many believe that as soon as they finish up a job interview, the rest is in the hands of the management staff. While this can ring true in many cases, did you know that there are still steps that you can take to improve your chances of getting the job, even after the interview has ended?

One of the many steps that you can take, after your job interview has ended, is by going out of your way to thank the interviewer.  In most cases, you will find that this person would be your supervisor if you were to get the position.  Be sure to thank them for the job interview opportunity. Also, if you had a scheduling conflict or were late to your job interview, be sure to thank the interviewer for being patient and accommodating to you. This may improve your chances in more ways than you could have ever imagined, especially if you were late. Be sure to shake hands.  Many view this as the “official,” closing of a job interview.

When you leave the interview room, there is a good chance that you would have to walk through the rest of the establishment. Whether you have to walk fifty feet or five hundred feet, there is a good chance that you will come into contact with other individuals, namely other employees.  Be sure to acknowledge them with a quick hello as you pass.  This is particularly important if a company supervisor is escorting you from the building or at least watching you leave. Acknowledging other coworkers shows that you are able to go out of your way to get along with them. This is a good sign that you may be a great team player.

Openings at $75K to $500K+Once you return home, you will want to prepare a thank you letter to mail out to the interviewer. There are many individuals who have pre made thank you letters.  In fact, some will even mail out their thank you notes on their way home from the interview. While it is possible to do so, you may want to add a personal note to your thank you letter.  This will help to prove it wasn’t a necessarily a preplanned gesture. With that in mind, the sooner that you can mail out your thank you note, the better shape you will likely be in. You will want to try and have your thank you note reach its recipient before an official decision has been made on who gets the job.

As outlined above, there are a number of different ways that you can go about landing your dream job even after the job interview has concluded.  What is nice is that these steps are relatively easy to implement.  In fact, you rarely have to take any special action.  These steps may not always lead you to be hired for the job, but there is no harm in taking a chance.

Men and Depression

Be rewarded the Web's Premiere Rewards Site
                                                                    Men and Depression

Men and women suffer depression almost equally.  Men, however, are taught that any need for help shows weakness.  They are, however, at greater risk for depression-related illnesses and suicide because they hide what is going on from everyone, often even denying it to themselves.

Most men hide their depression by trying to cover their feelings. They most often do this with drugs, alcohol, sex, or work. Depression shows in men not as helpless or hopeless, but as angry, frustrated, and other aggressive feelings. Men are less likely to seek treatment than women and they are less likely to admit that they have a problem.

Depression and men is a silent battle that barely makes a rumble until the battle is over. The drugs and the smiles and the carrying on and acting hide many of the typical signs of depression from others. It's hard to pick up on the signs of depression if you are close to the person, and it's even harder if they are trying to cover the feelings up.

If you notice that a loved one is showing any of the typical depression signs like oversleeping or not sleeping, tension, or uncontrollable anger (in the case of men) you should address the topic and let the person know that you care about them and that you are ready to listen when they are ready to talk. It's important not to push the issue and just let things run their course with men.

If you are a man who is depressed, there are a few things you can do to help yourself:

*Talk about how you feel
*Stay active (Find an activity that you enjoy)
*Give yourself a break to do something you enjoy
*Find a way to relax at the end of a busy day
*Try to eat properly.

Natural Remedies for Losing Weight - Aloe

Natural Remedies for Losing Weight - Aloe

Normally when you think of aloe (which contains over 400 different species), you think of it being used for wound healing and things like burns.  Aloe is actually added to herbal weight loss products for the main reason that it cleans you right out.  It induces a strong cathartic response, which is why they also say on the labels it is an internal cleanser.  One of the 400 species is Aloe Vera, and it is purported to have medicinal properties.   Many cosmetics companies use aloe in their products and market them as skin rejuvenators.

Aloe has been touted as a cure all for coughs, wounds, ulcers and gastritis as well as arthritis and immune system deficiencies when taken internally.  Apparently the only actual substantiated internal use is as a laxative.

Research on Aloe as a weight loss agent seems to consistently indicate it has no effect  on weight loss despite its inclusion in over-the-counter natural remedies for losing weight.  Many feel its inclusion is misleading to consumers.  An internal cleanser, when not spelled out that it promotes strong bowel movements, can mean many things, including it cleans up your system and rids you of fats.  Certainly it may lead to some minimal weight loss, due to the time spent recycling the product.  However, the real weight loss would come with a change in your diet and exercise program.

Aloe evidently also has some rather disturbing side effects - abdominal cramping, diarrhea, electrolyte disturbances, and decreases in potassium. It is also recommended you do not take aloe in combination with medications such as digoxin or diuretics.

The choice is yours and you can decide whether or not you want to try Aloe after you have read all you can about it.   Most definitely it is being promoted as being effective in weight loss and not just because it causes diarrhea.  It is said to reduce and stabilize body mass index by stimulating the metabolic rate in liver cells causing us to burn more energy.  The other point about Aloe is that is has a high collagen protein content.  Meaning, using aloe vera as a supplement in your diet would increase protein intake.  The body spends more time trying to digest proteins and spends more energy doing that - thus it burns fat.  It's baffling, but as always, talk to your Doctor.

How to Really Make Money With Online Survey Companies

American Consumer Opinion

An online survey company that offers participants a chance to win a cash drawing for completing quick, fun surveys and actual cash (between $4 to $50) for completing more extensive, in depth surveys that they refer to as "focus groups."  The site contends that focus group participants generally do not make less than $50.

To join American Consumer Opinion, you need to click on to www.acop.com.  This will bring you to the site's home page where you can sign up for the site.  After you complete the questions, a confirmation link will be sent to your e-mail address under the name of "Ann Parks."  The site warns that many of these e-mails end up in your bulk or spam folder, so if you are interested in receiving e-mails from the site, you should add the name "Ann Parks" to your e-mail address book.

American Consumer Opinion has been around for about 10 years.  It's a legitimate site, but, unfortunately, does not offer a lot of money.  There are several pros and cons to joining American Consumer Opinions:

Pros:

- The site is open to international residents.  You don't have to live in the United States to participate and there is no age limit, although since many of the surveys pertain to work and other adult-oriented activities, teenagers will find the questions boring;

- There is a steady flow of both short surveys and longer questionnaires available to participants;

- Your information is private; they will never try to sell you anything, spam your mailbox with ads or telephone you.;

- The site has been around a long time and is respected in the marketing community.

Cons:

- There is no guarantee of earning anything for completing the short surveys, only an opportunity to win cash in a monthly drawing.  To date, I haven't won anything.  Only one person wins each month and the winner receives $250;

- The cash received for participating in a lengthy survey is not paid to you by the site, but by the company requesting the information.  You may end up waiting four to six weeks for a $4 check;

- You don't get to pick which surveys you want to complete, you'll receive them by e-mail;

- There are times when the site goes "down" in the middle of your survey, which means you have to take the entire thing over again.  The reason the American Consumers give for this is that the site is experiencing "too much traffic."  But it is extremely frustrating.

American Consumer Opinion is a subsidiary company for Decision Analysis Inc., a Dallas based marketing research company.  The company performs research for a variety of corporations around the world, including fast food chains, railroad corporations and airlines.

Pet Grooming Professionals - How to Keep Your Pet Safe

Pet Grooming Professionals - How to Keep Your Pet Safe

Pet grooming is a necessity that any pet owner can testify to. You can have your pet groomed by a pet grooming professional or you can attempt to do it yourself. If you take your dog to a pet grooming expert, be careful who you take them to. There are plenty of horror stories out there that will make any responsible pet owner shutter. You must know and trust your pet groomer or disastrous results may occur. This article is a helpful guide to watching for red flags when you visit your local pet grooming expert whether you have used them for a long time or it is a first time visit.

If it is a first time visit, ask the groomer to look at the grooming area. Make sure the equipment used is right for your pet. Look in the kennel area to see if there is fresh water and the cages are clean. If your pet is put into a soiled kennel, they have a high chance of catching a transmittable disease. Make sure there is a soft area for the animal to lie on like a blanket or towel. A red flag should go up if you see multiple colors of hair on the floor. This means that the pet grooming professional is not sanitizing between animals. Look at the clippers. Be assured that they are sanitized. If the clippers have dried blood or hair on them, you need to find another groomer.

The personal appearance of the pet grooming expert is also important. Look for stains or blood on their clothing. If the groomer is not clean, you can be assured that your pet will not be handled in a sanitary manner. Also watch how the groomer interacts with your animal. If they are abrasive in either manner or speech, you might want to redirect your business. If they are not conscious of their negative approach to your pet while you are  there, think about how more negative are harmful the pet grooming professional will be if you are not there.

The first thing a pet owner should look for is the animal's attitude when returning from a groomer. Of course most pets will be shaken, but if an animal acts extremely shy or skittish after the appointment a further look in the pet groomer's practices may need to be explored. Look for cuts or abrasions on your animal, especially in hard to find places like under the neck or beneath legs. The pet groomer should talk to you about concerns they find on your pet and detail any wounds or scratches your pet received during the session.

Any unprofessional pet grooming behavior that you witness or discover should be reported to the either the state board that issued the certification or a veterinarian who can contact the proper authorities. Your pet's welfare is important and the proper pet grooming professional needs to be obtained to ensure the physical and emotional safety. Watch closely, and pay attention to both your pet and the groomer.
